BBC Kids is a Canadian English language category 2 digital cable specialty channel owned by CW Media (a division of Canwest and GS Capital Partners) and BBC Worldwide. Its programming is aimed at youth ranging from pre-schoolers to teens. While the BBC's children's brand is CBBC, presumably using that name in Canada would cause confusion with the CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation).
ProgrammingLike BBC Canada, BBC Kids is effectively a Canadian channel, so the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission requires that it air a quota of Canadian content. Therefore, along with British series, it also airs Canadian series such as Cracking Contraptions, Fraggle Rock, Ready or Not and more. In addition to the British and Canadian programs that form the majority of the schedule, BBC Kids airs programs from other countries such as Australia, the United States and more. Noted series

BBCKOn April 3, 2006, Alliance Atlantis unveiled BBCK, a new branding for the evening and late night block of programming beginning at 9 pm EST on BBC Kids which is aimed towards an older audience. They have also launched a separate website making it appear as though BBCK is a separate channel similar to the former agreement between Noggin/The N in the United States. Officially however, it is considered one channel. HistoryLicensed by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) in November 2000 to Alliance Atlantis, the channel was launched on September 7, 2001 under its current name. On January 18, 2008, a joint venture between Canwest and GS Capital Partners bought Alliance Atlantis and gained AAC's interest in BBC Kids. International distribution
