Independent Conservative is a description allowed in British politics to denote party affiliation. It is used to designate a politician is conservative, yet independent of any political party, particularly of the Conservative Party. Currently, there is one Member of Parliament that uses the description; Derek Conway was elected as an MP for the Conservative Party, but had the whip withdrawn, forcing him to become an Independent Conservative.
