LAOTSE (Links to Asia by Organizing Traineeship and Student Exchange) is an international network of leading universities in Europe and Asia. It was established during the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) University Dialogue held in Kuala Lumpur on March 18, 1998. LAOTSE partners arrange exchange programs for students and senior lecturers, as well as organize an annual summerschool.

Participating universities includes universities from China, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Iran, Republic of Ireland, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, and Thailand.

The network is named after Laotse (pinyin: Lǎo Zi; Chinese: 老子; Wade-Giles: Lao-tz'u), a famous Taoist Chinese philosopher who is believed to have lived in approximately the 4th century BC.
