UKTV People is a television channel broadcasting in the United Kingdom as part of the UKTV network of channels. Along with UKTV Documentary it launched on 8 March 2004, replacing UK Horizons, which closed the day before.
HistoryThe channel is available on Sky Digital, Tiscali TV and Virgin Media. The output of the channel is mainly factual programming of a lighter nature, based on the people of the world such as Top Gear and docusoaps like Airport. None of its content is fresh and produced by the channel, but it is instead bought from other broadcasters such as the BBC, which hold a stake in the UKTV group of companies. Originally there was a time-shifted version of UKTV People called UKTV People +1. This was closed on 18 April 2006 to create UKTV Drama +1 on 2 May that same year. 2009 RebrandOn October 9, 2008, UKTV announced plans to rebrand UKTV People and UKTV Documentary in early 2009.[1] The news came just two days after UKTV's entertainment channels were rebranded to Watch, G.O.L.D. and Alibi. They announced that UKTV People will be rebranded as 'Blighty'. ProgrammingCurrent Programming
