Uusimaa, or Nyland in Swedish (New Land), is a region (maakunta / landskap) in Finland. It borders the regions Finland Proper, Tavastia Proper, Päijänne Tavastia and Eastern Uusimaa. Finland's capital, Helsinki, is located centrally in Uusimaa, making it by far the most populated of the regions.
